Ms. Modesta Nnedinso Abugu serves as the program assistant for the Open Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology in Africa (OFAB), Nigeria Chapter. She is involved in the planning of awareness campaigns on agricultural biotechnology in Nigeria, and also manages the social media pages of OFAB Nigeria. She has participated in planning over 30 public awareness and advocacy programs on agricultural biotechnology, and was part of the team that championed the Biosafety Bill into law in Nigeria. She is excited to be trained as a biotechnology communicator by the Cornell Alliance for Science on effective agri-biotech communication strategies and volunteerism, and hopes to begin implementing these strategies in 2015. She holds a BSc degree in Biochemistry from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Nigeria.
